Priority Records was established in 1985 (operated as [l60611). In November of 1996 Capitol acquired an initial 50% ownership interest in Priority. Since then, Priority has continued its rapid growth in the important US market. It is a leader in Urban and Rap music and has a significant position in Pop and Rock compilations and soundtracks.
