Maximiliano Cortes, Eduardo J. Alvarez & Ignacio Vallejo
Imbue consists of guitarist Eduardo Alvarez, pianist Ignacio Vallejo, and audio engineer Maximiliano Cortes. Based in Miami, Florida, these three childhood friends have crafted a unique interpretation of electronic music with original guitar and piano instrumentation superimposed over drum machine grooves and bass lines. Their live performances feature a hybrid of live electric guitar and synthesizer improvisation over a continuous DJ set, including both vinyl and digital mixing.
The trio launched their self-titled label in 2017 with their vinyl-only debut, “Imbue” [IMB001. Seven official EPs have been released under that imprint: “Abstractions” [IMB002, “Of Time and Actuality” [IMB003, “Within the Gaze” [IMB004, “V” [IMB005, “Bloom” [IMB006 & “Tides” [IMBX001. Three of their vinyl EP’s reached #1 on the Decks.de and Deejay.de charts. The success of these records helped them land features on the labels Telum [TELUM006, Retrospect [RETRO003, SISU [SISU01 & SISU02, Personality Disorder [PDM015 & PDM016, and Lisa’s Kickback [LKB003, amongst others. Lisa’s Kickback subsequently released a remix of their track “Don Carter’s” by Berlin based producer Afriqua: Imbue - Don Carter’s (Afriqua’s Durocell Bass Mix) [LKB008.
Summer of 2023 saw a shift in the group’s releases, opting for digital singles with their IMBX series: “The Funk” [IMBX002, “Overdrive” [IMBX003, and “Big Sky” [IMBX004.
Imbue have headlined shows in Miami, Atlanta, Portland and the Dominican Republic, and have opened for the likes of Traumer, Gene on Earth, Shonky, Raresh, Alci, Sepp & Nu Zau, SIT and more, both in Miami and in Berlin’s Club der Visionaere.
